Leaving Certificate
Syllabus
Music is offered to students taking the Leaving Certificate in Grange Community College. The school offers Honours Music at Leaving Certificate Level and provides a comprehensive Music Curriculum which aims to develop the students Listening, Composition and Performance abilities. A full range of resources are available, within the Music Department, to facilitate aspects of the music leaving-certificate course including music technology, performance, recording and rehearsal. Aspects of the curriculum include
- Listening Development: The Beatles, Mozart, Raymond Deane, Berlioz, Queen, Bach, Gerald Barry and Tchaikovsky
- Melody Composition
- Harmony Composition
- Performance including Instrumental and Vocal
- Aural perception
- Irish Music
- Music Technology
Students of Music will develop a programme based on their own preferred music styles for their leaving-certificate requirements which will be supported by their Music teacher. This develops confidence in the music student.
