HSCL & SCP
Home School Community Liaison (HSCL)
The Home School Community Liaison (HSCL) scheme is part of the DEIS (Delivering Equality of Opportunity in Schools) programme and aims to build strong partnerships between parents, the school, and the wider community. The focus of the HSCL role is to support parents and guardians so that, together, we can achieve the best possible outcomes for our students.
At Grange Community College, our HSCL Coordinator is Lisa Doran. Lisa works closely with parents and guardians, offering support and guidance throughout their child’s time in school. This includes home visits, particularly during key transition periods, and providing practical support around school attendance and engagement.
The HSCL also organises courses and workshops for parents during the school year and shares information about useful events, supports, and webinars within the local community. While the HSCL role is not involved in school discipline, it is there to support families with any concerns related to their child’s education.
HSCL supports include:
Home visits and parent support
Courses and workshops for parents/guardians
Building links between school, home, and the community
Through this work, HSCL helps strengthen the connection between home and school, supporting students to thrive in their education.
School Completition Programme (SCP)
The School Completion Programme (SCP) supports students who may be at risk of leaving school early, helping them stay engaged and complete their education. As part of the DEIS programme and funded by Tusla Education Support Services (TESS), SCP works to support students in reaching their full potential and progressing to further education, training, or employment.
SCP is one of three supports within TESS, alongside the Home School Community Liaison (HSCL) Scheme and the Educational Welfare Service. All three strands share the same national outcomes: Improved attendance; Improved participation; Improved retention.
At Grange Community College SCP supports includes 1:1 student and project worker interventions, homework club, summer camps and school trips.
